About Us

Hoofin' it for Hoosier Vets is managed and produced by members of Brownsburg High School DECA, an international business club. The leaders of this event, Morgan Weller, Hannah Paczkowski, and Nick Kelley, are seniors hoping to compete in the International DECA Competition.

Each year, members of DECA must create a project and compete in State Competition. There are many different categories, but the one Nick, Hannah, and Morgan chose revolves around Public Relations. This paper project requires that the students find a way to promote a worthy cause within their community. After hearing about the program, Hike for Hoosier Vets, a project put on by Brownsburg DECA alum, Zach Day, the students know they wanted to do something to help Zach's cause.

Zach has been hiking the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trial to raise money for the Hoosier Veteran's Assistance Foundation (HVAF), an organization that raises money for homeless Hoosier veterans. Click the link on the left to find out more about the program that started it all.

At first, Morgan, Nick and Hannah planned on simply promoting Zach's projectand attempting to gather donations. After learning more about HVAF and the serious need in the community, they decided to do something more. Hannah, Nick and Morgan have been working with both Hike for Hoosier Vets and HVAF to put on this 5k event. Not only do they aim to raise a large some of money for HVAF, but they also hope this race will raise enough awareness for people to recognize the great need in our community and assure that the Hoosier Veterans are not forgotten.

Help us honor our nation's heros by participating in this event.
